Oscar Noms Announced This Week

Unless you've been living under a rock, you know the nominations for the 83rd Academy Awards were announced earlier this week. For the most part, I think the nominations went as expected, especially if you watched the Golden Globes. The biggest Oscar snub this year appears to be Christopher Nolan for Best Director for Inception...but don't feel too bad for him, Inception received eight nominations in total!

Here's my mini list of the nominations that I care most about:

Best Actress: Annette Benning, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Lawrence, Natalie Portman, Michelle Williams

Best Actor: Javier Bardem, Jeff Bridges, Jesse Eisenberg, Colin Firth, James Franco

Best Supporting Actress: Amy Adams, Helena Bonham Carter, Melissa Leo, Hailee Steinfeld, Jacki Weaver

Best Supporting Actor: Christian Bale, John Hawkes, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Geoffrey Rush

Best Picture: Black Swan, The Fighter, Inception, The Kids Are Alright, The King's Speech, 127 Hours, The Social Network, Toy Story 3, True Grit, Winter's Bone

Best Director: Darren Aronofsky 'Black Swan," David O. Russel 'The Fighter,' Tom Hooper 'The King's Speech,' David Fincher 'The Social Network,' Joel and Ethan Coen 'True Grit'

So there you have it! Tune in to the 83rd Academy Awards February 27th on ABC or CTV in Canada and watch this years hosts James Franco and Anne Hathaway kill it! I think we can look forward to an awesome show this year!
